Transportation
SIL transportation operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Our unique service is door-to-door. All rides are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have never used SIL transportation services, you must complete the onboarding process, which will help determine if they are qualified for a sponsored (free) ride. We recommend you call to request a ride as soon as you know transportation is needed, as we cannot guarantee availability. If you have already completed the onboarding process your call will be transferred to the ride request line.

To request a ride call (573) 874-1646 ext. 248 and provide the necessary information:
• Name
• Date and time of the ride
• Pick-up and drop-off location
• Telephone number
• Type of mobility device used (wheelchair, walker, cane, etc.)
Eligible riders must have a disability, and/or be 55 years of age or older, and/or be a veteran.
Individuals who cannot ride independently are responsible for bringing an attendant (attendants ride free). SIL drivers cannot provide personal care.
You may ride for free under the following conditions and depending on ride availability at the requested times:
• To SIL sponsored events and activities,
• If you have Medicaid, or
• If you are a Veteran or their spouse (sponsored by a generous donation from Veterans United Foundation).
Fee-for-Service rides to medical appointments, shopping & errands, etc. are provided based on schedule availability for $14.00 per one-way trip. Rides are limited to within the Columbia city limits.
Services for Independent Living (SIL) is required by federal, state and/or local laws to make its services available without discrimination. If you feel you have been discriminated against, please click here to file a complaint. The form must be filled out within 180 days of the action.
